Cherries: featuring Lyons Fruit Farm
All Things Cherries (video below)
Who doesn’t love Michigan cherries? We at AlignWell couldn’t wait for these yummy drupes. You heard that right, cherries are more similar to peaches and nectarines than they are to berries, hence the categorization of drupes.
These little gems are one of our favorite foods in abundance at the Holland, MI farmers market right now. We’ll take a few pints over here!
SWEET CHERRIES are oh so delicious, beautiful, juicy, and bursting with phytonutrients and antioxidants.
?super high in antioxidants, potassium, and copper
?anti inflammatory (aka fight like every disease)
?contain melatonin which will hopefully help me sleep
?Rich in in beta carotene, vitamin C, anthocyanins, and quercetin which together work to fight CANCER
Sweet cherries pack almost 3 times as much anthocyanins as the tart, which is good news because sweet cherries are the best in our eyes.
The darker the cherries, the more antioxidants they’ll produce! They make the best snack for even the pickiest eater. So, eat up this summer and buy all the delicious local fruits & veggies from the Holland, MI Farmers Market on 8th. Support local farmers like Lyons Fruit Farm and nourish your body from within!
Gardening Tip:
Cherry’s need plenty of sun and air circulation so planting away from other trees or obstructions to sunlight are a must.
